I just finished reaing an article from Scientific American about "premium" gasoline. I'm normally using "the other" gasoline... the cheaper. And after reading the article I'm happier! For many modern and standard cars the premium class of gasoline offers no benefit.Scientific American explains the "why" of that conclusion very good... check the article.
